Charlottesville.

Charlottesville sits on the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Southwest Virginia. Here are some of our favorite places.

  • Greenwood Grocery

Consistently our first stop in town and place to pick up snacks before going to the mountains. We love the Blue Slate sandwich.

  • Dr. Ho's Pizza

A Walker favorite just south of Charlottesville. We take all out of town guests here to experience “the alternative pizza”.

  • Tavola

One of our favorites in the hip Belmont neighborhood of Charlottesville. We love their seasonal pastas.

  • MarieBette Cafe & Bakery

Some of the best coffee and pastries in town. We recommend going to the Downtown Mall location before Saturday morning’s Farmer’s Market.

  • Shenandoah National Park

Home to the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Rockfish Gap entrance is about 30 minutes west of Charlottesville. We like to take Sully on the Jones Run Falls Trail, and Calvary and Chimney Rocks Trail.

  • Blue Mountain Brewery

Our year-round favorite to unwind after a long day in the Park. It’s about 25 mins west of Charlottesville and 5 minutes from the Rockfish Gap entrance of the Park.

  • Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards

A beautiful winery about 20 minutes south of Charlottesville. It has gorgeous vistas of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and a great selection of estate wines and local cuisine.

  • Downtown Mall

A historic, walking mall in the heart of Charlottesville. It’s home to farm-to-table restaurants, lively bars, and fun shopping. It’s about a 5 minute drive from The Draftsman.
